Many DVD to Mobile copy modes are available: Generic, iPod, PSP, Cell Phone, PVP, Zune, Xbox360 and more. Support for additional devices can be added manually using the Customize UI function.

DVD to Mobile also has a VOB Passthrough function you can find in Generic or add as a Device using Customize UI. It will produce a VOB file for use on some media servers and players (you can change the file suffix to MPG if necessary in Windows Explorer). This file can be one large file or split by size options (1,2,4 GB) or by chapter marks of the original DVD. The target drive must be NTFS for the larger file sizes to appear. The conversion time for VOB Passthrough is very fast.

DVDFab comes with support for some devices that are not displayed in the navigation bar by default, you must select the ones you want. To make any of these devices( AppleTV, etc.) appear in the bar, select Customize UI in Common Settings, then select "DVD to Mobile" and click on the "New" button as shown below. The new devices will appear in the drop down selector. Further details can be found on the Customize UI (link) page of this tutorial.

DVDFab will automatically crop images that have black bars encoded on the sides or top of the picture. See the "Settings/Generic" page in this document for information on how to turn this feature off; the default is On. For most profiles, DVDFab will also automatically pre-select a suggested screen size and aspect ratio for the conversion (which can be changed by the user). The 'autosize' and 'autocrop' features will help users produce better output files in most cases.

Subtitles in DVD to Mobile can be rendered into the video during conversion or output as subtitle files for use in some players. A checkbox found on the first DVD to Mobile screen("Display only forced subpicture") will allow you to display only subtitles that have a forced start (like the translations in movies like The DaVinci Code). If you put a check in this box and the DVD has no forced start subpictures none of the regular subtitles will appear in the output video or files.

You must select the main subpicture (English in the example above) that contains the forced subpics for the new checkbox to have any effect. If you do not want any subtitles on the output video, UNcheck all subpicture selection boxes before you click the 'Next' button.

The DVD to Mobile function is queue-based, which means you can set up multiple conversions that will run as a batch with no user intervention. In the example below, five conversions were set up using the Source folder to add new items. As with Merge mode, if a Source is removed it will be deleted from the Task List (and can be removed manually). If the Source is removed after clicking Start or is not available when called on, the results can be unpredictable and unpleasant.

If you use this feature, be sure to give each job on the task list a different file name when using the same Source and profile (example: different chapters from a concert DVD), otherwise DVDFab will stop the conversion and you will be asked whether to overwrite the existing file if you used DVDFab's default naming pattern with no changes.

Also available is the option to split the output files by the chapter marks of the original disc (or by output file size in some modes).
